Primary Flying Site

The Muroc Model Masters Primary Flying Site is located 6 miles East of California State highway 14, between the city of Rosamond Ca. and Edwards AFB on Rosamond Blvd. Our field is on the North end of Rosamond Dry Lake which is on Edwards AFB property. Our usable flying surface is approximately 1/4 mile wide and just over 2 miles long. This makes it a perfect place to either learn to fly or to test out a new aircraft. We have areas designated for control line use as well as rocketry launch areas. There are no improvements (shade or bathrooms). Due to insurance issues, all pilots using either of our sites must be AMA insured. There are NO exceptions to this rule! Guests must be sponsored and accompanied by a Model Masters Member at all times!!!
Here is an aerial photo that was taken of the lake bed. This was taken from the back seat of a T-38 on 11 Feburary 1999 during a high fly-by pass.

Please note: Since our primary flying site is located on a federal installation, this field is open to members and their guests. If you will be traveling in our area and want to fly at our lakebed flying site please contact one of our officers or send us e-mail to get sponsored onto Edwards AFB.

Secondary Flying Site

Our secondary Flying Site is located on private property at the Little Buttes Antique Airport, just South of Rosamond. This field features a 85 X 1000 foot smooth, hard packed dirt runway and is located on private property. We share this runway with a few full scale aircraft so please give them the right of way. Also please be kind and courteous to the land owners and respect their privacy.

Due to insurance issues, all pilots using either of our sites must be AMA insured. There are NO exceptions to this rule! Guests must be sponsored by a Model Masters Member.
