Officer Bio

Name: Tony Accurso
Position: Safety Coordinator
Narrative:

My interest in Model Aviation started at the age of 6 years old. My father started me off with plastic model kits, balsa wood stick and tissue free flight planes and model rockets. My youth was ultimately defined with the sound of Cox .049 engines running on control line aircraft. Ahh… the good old days of Cox tin fuel cans along with the the sound and smell of 1/2A Cox Engines! My first RC flight was with a Cox .049 Cessna Centurion 2 channel plane. I taught myself how to fly that plane without a single crash. My passion was ignited with that flight. A magical time! I've now been involved in Model Aviation for over 35 years and owe much to this hobby which inspired my Active Duty Air Force career of currently 23 years. I’m a full-time single father and my 12 year old daughter Evelyn is also an RC pilot. My involvement with the Muroc Model Masters (MMM) dates back to 1997 and I’m a former MMM Vice-President. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to serve as the MMM Safety Coordinator and look forward to working with everyone to help ensure a safe environment for all members and visitors to our field. Being a member of the Muroc Model Masters is an honor and privilege, not only because of the clubs rich history and location on the hallowed ground of Edwards AFB but because of the members. RC pilots and families that truly support one another and keep the hobby fun for all.

Experience: RC Company Demo Pilot, Product Tech Reviews, RC Instructor, RC Club Officer, Skilled Model Builder, Former British Model Flying Association Member and current Academy of Model Aeronautics Member.
